Today’s quote:

.

“What other people think about you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.”

– Jen Sincero
 .
Every day I am so thankful for you and you hard work.  Day in and day out grind is what you are all about and that my friend is so inspiring!  You see this habit you are creating is not a common habit nor is it long lived one for many.  The reason it doesn’t last is because its has not fully sunk in as a habit.
.
A few days ago we spoke about it take 66 days for a habit to fully develop.  I challenge that theory because if we can fall head over heels in love with what we are doing, we will want more.  Take a new relationship.  If it’s been a while since you dated and your spouse or significant other have been together for many years, just go back to when you met.  You meet this boy or girl and are very interested.  You then work up the courage to speak to each other and then the courage to hang out.  You remember that feeling?  There are butterflies, cold hands or sweaty hands, you over think everything, you make sure you on time, all your other commitments are on the back burner because all you can think about is this person.  When you’re at work, you’re thinking of them, when you’re laying away at night, you’re thinking about them.  You get the picture I’m creating.  You are ALL in!  You are fully addicted to this person.  All you want is to be with this person.
.
Think of your health and your fitness like that relationship.  You are getting to be around you more.  You are investing so much time into you now.  You are betting yourself, you overall mood, your everything.  You seriously are becoming a better person!  How can I say that? I can say that because you investing in YOU.  You are giving YOU time.
.
If your body/self could talk, what would it say to you right now?
.
Would it say “I need more time with you?”
.
Would say, “I feel like you are spending more time with others and not me?”
.
Would it say, “Remember when I mattered to you?”
.
I know that is a silly exercise but really think about it.  You are what makes you YOU.  If you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of others to your full potential.
.
I begin today with this because when others start to have a problem with you and your new “workout thing”, it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.  Whenever we start something new or a friend starts something new, we double think ourselves, because we wondering if we should be doing that too.
.
Just recently my wife Katie hired a nutrition coach.  She has some pretty awesome goal for 2018 and she is so serious about this, she hired a coach.  If any of you are thinking, why would she hire a coach if she has you for a husband?  Great question, but in our relationship we are great workout partner and cheer leaders but when it comes to coaching each other, we are not that couple.  Back to my story.  Knowing Katie has started a new eating program, I totally started to think about starting something new and if what I’m doing is right for me?  The answers is, yes coach you are good and don’t need to change anything because your wife is.
.
So when we start something new we are going to get cheer leaders, critics aka “haters” and all in all, it there support or lack of it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with them.  People that tend to be big supporters have a healthy relationship with themselves and vice vera is something is not supportive.  These people are the hardest because we tend to listen to their criticism more.  But as you continue know you are doing the right thing for you.
.
Here is my checklist to assure what I am doing is the right thing:
.
1) Am I going to be more healthy (physically/mentally) if I do this?
.
2) Are others going to benefit more abundantly from my “self care” priority?
.
When you can give 2 solid “yes” answers, then you are in the clear!
.
Here are some examples of someone being selfish:
.
1) Causing harm (physically and relationally).  This is when someone is causing harm to themselves and others. (being careless with self and others)
.
2) Financially compromising ones self’s future and others. Anything that leaves you in a bad position financially that is very irresponsible. (betting, careless spending, etc)
.
3) Neglecting roles.  This is a very common trait when one gets healthy.  They spend all day at the gym, with training buddies and totally drops the ball with their responsibilities in life.  This can be at work, at home for all your parents/significant others, etc.
.
If any of these are currently present, It would be who of anyone to delete these behaviors.  They will distract from your overall goal of getting back in shape and cause additional stresses.  If you are currently dealing with either of these talk to a friend or even possibly seek professional counsel.  Remember, our goal in this journey is to better ourselves and the ones around us.
.
As you continue this journey, know you are on fire and you are doing what is right for you!  You are inspiring others, even if they don’t say so!
.

Our Daily 3 Pillars:

Fitness (15 minutes): We will use HIIT (hight intensity interval training) as our vehicle to increase our fitness and get a better bang for our buck.  Don’t be surprised when results start showing up faster than normal.
Quiet time (5 minutes): Some call this meditation, prayer time or times of gratitude.  This is where we pause from all the rat racing and allow for peace to enter.
Personal Investment (10 minutes): Personal development.  This is you investing in you.  Whether its reading, listening to a podcast, listening or sitting a reading a book
.
